Today, music legend Mariah Carey will be inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York City after three decades of tirelessly proving herself to be one of the best and most commercially successful songwriters in history. Here, I look at her career as a songwriter and rank my vote for her 30 best-written songs.

Mariah Carey: The Songwriter Supreme

Tonight, Mariah Carey will finally be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in a ceremony held in New York City. The honor was first announced in 2020, but the ceremony was delayed two full years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But what’s two more years when Mariah had already been waiting the three decades since her debut album to be recognized as one of the most talented songwriters in history?

Much to her well-documented frustration, Mariah Carey has been decidedly better known for attributes outside of her songwriting abilities.
