In this post, let’s review how OneAccess has been implemented to enhance the convenience of the authentication process of a leading financial institution in Korea.
Background
From the end of the public key certificates use to the rising adoption of non-face-to-face transactions, the Korean financial ecosystem is changing from day to day. In response to these changes, NH Nonghyup, a leading financial institution in Korea, was looking for increasing its customers convenience and its services security while simultaneously exploring new business opportunities.
In this regard, NH Nonghyup focused their attention on “Authentication”, which is crucial for services adoption since this is the first step that customers will experience when accessing to a service for the first time. In particular, the financial group was looking for implementing new authentication methods such as biometric authentication or methods leveraging the emerging private certificates approach. As a result, NH Nonghyup considered establishing an open authentication system as a platform that can easily interlink various authentication means.
Deploying a Simple Sign-up & Simple Authentication Services with OneAccess
For answering its needs, NH Nonghyup has decided to collaborate with RAON that already had a lot of experience in deploying innovative authentication technologies combined with a comprehensive understanding of authentication trends from PKI to biometric authentication.
Among the products developed by RAON, OneAccess was very similar to NH Nonghyup’s in-house service model, which convinced the financial group to adopt it. OneAccess is an open platform for integrated authentication means that enables companies to experience integrated management of various user authentication methods that comply with standardized process.
OneAccess does not only support the OAuth 2.0 international standard, enabling the technology to easily interoperate with various authentication methods, but also supports a variety of user authentication means such as fingerprint, facial recognition, PIN, and OTP.
By performing a Proof of Concept (PoC), RAON provided NH Nonghyup with a solid demonstration on how the service would be implemented, enhancing the trust of the financial group in RAON and its products. Following the success of the PoC, NH Nonghyup implemented their own service called ‘NHOnePASS’ that leverages the OneAccess-based simple sign-up & simple authentication technologies.
The financial holding did not only deploy NHOnePASS to its subsidiaries such as NH Nonghyup Life, Nonghyup Mall and NH Members but also to external services such as Smart Bills and Infovine.

Leveraging OneAccess enabled NH Nonghyup to comply with its mission: enhancing its customer convenience while diversifying its profitability.

Enhancing convenience. OneAccess provided NH Nonghyup’s customers with a variety of authentication means, enhancing the ease of use of related services. It also provided convenience to IT teams that could easily integrate and manage various services and authentication means. Such convenience can be reflected by the reduction of internal working hours related to the development of new authentication technologies since OneAccess is based on standard technology that was already applied in the client’s systems.
Diversification of profitability. NH Nonghyup is expecting that additional business opportunities will emerge through the implementation of convenient authentication means and new businesses will be operated via subscription and authentication agency services. In this regard, NH Nonghyup will strongly consider working with RAON when there will be new opportunities related to authentication.
