In this post, let’s review how OneGuard has been implemented in HomePlus, a leading retail chain in Korea, to enhance the security and control over devices such as business tablets.
Background
At HomePlus, business tablets are required in the working environment in order to issue credit cards from on-site customer centers. During the issuance process, HomePlus collects its customers’ personal information. For protecting its customer’s personal information, the leading retail chain had to implement a mobile security solution complying to KISA (Korea Internet & Security Agency)’s mobile security guidelines.
When selecting the technology to use to deploy the mobile security solution, one of the criteria of HomePlus was to add the desired functions while implementing a kiosk mode to the business tablets with enhanced security for the person in charge of the management. From a broader perspective, HomePlus was looking for a mobile security solution that could not only enhance security but also create the smart office environment by, for example, strengthening authentication and vaccine (mobile antivirus), distributing easy-to-update business mobile applications, and by improving the management of lost devices.
Applying OneGuard to HomePlus Smart Office
Looking at the above requirements expressed by the leading chain store, OneGuard was designed for this use case. OneGuard is a security platform for smart working developed by RAON. - The kiosk mode, preventing the use of tablets for non-work-related matters.
- The vaccine function that allows the verification of patterns’ version and engine through a real-time process.
- A function enabling to block screenshot to prevent personal information’s leakage during the membership registration.
- The automatic logout at a certain time, automatically turning off the screen to prevent manipulation by others.

In particular, its convenient usability allows IT managers to use it without worrying about any security breaches. The leading retail chain was also very satisfied by the provision of a one-depth menu in kiosk mode, enabling the solution to fully meet their purpose. In this regard, such function enables users to use the required WI-FI setting at work with a floating icon at the top. It also enables employees to work directly with the work app (via Chrome browser) after logging in.
Compared to other existing business systems, OneGuard has a significantly lower failure rate, which has been reflected in this use case as HomePlus expressed their entire satisfaction and trust in OneGuard as its high stability enables HomePlus to smoothly control and operate the terminals in its stores and branches by only leveraging remote control.
