There is a new artist on the scene and his name is Pink Guy and he released an album by the name of Pink Season on January 04, 2017. It is available on Itunes and has been gathering attention rather quickly as of late.

His name comes from the fact that he spends a lot of time in a pink suit; simple enough. His antics and deliberate vulgarity make you want to write him off as just a comedy act, but his music is listenable. Which came as a surprise to me after watching a few YouTube videos which were initially funny, but ended up being catchy in a “can you believe he just said that” kind of way.

At times, Pink Season sounds like it was made in a garage, but what is astonishing is there are other times when it’s oddly coherent. This is an artistic masterpiece in its own right. He makes comedic music the way Sacha Baron Cohen makes movies or Lin-Manuel Miranda turns politics into hip-hop. Pink Season is an overwhelming 35 tracks that weigh in at just shy of an hour and a half so if you have a road trip coming up, download it and you’ll forget the fact that you’re not “there” yet.

He does songs about homosexuality, Donald Trump, social media, being left alone, vasectomy’s, white supremacy, Dora Explorer, having a gun, girls on nickelodeon, meme’s,having a small penis, rice balls, and dog festivals just to name a few (literally). The diversity is surprising, but it could’ve been 25 tracks.

The words may be too much for fragile eared individuals, but those who like a good ear slaying will find his verbal arrangement to be interesting. In the song “Dog Festival” he explains to the listener how they can attend a dog eating festival in China, even saying about the taxi, “if you’re white they’ll charge you double// I shit you not (2x)”.

It is a peculiar addition to the hip-hop canon, but it continues to prove that like the constitution, rap is ever evolving.
