As Transparent As Air: what we collect when you use Rapid

Hey RapidSquadFam,
Recently as Rapid has grown we’ve felt that we should be more transparent / clear about what we collected when you use Rapid with your friends, family and strangers.
Right into it: When you send a message on Rapid, we collect:
- The transcript.
- The date (UNIX TIME) of the last sent message.
- The status (read, sent or new).
- What the current user is typing, and if they’re typing (for Live Typing).
End-to-end encryption is currently not supported on Rapid, but we’re working on that for the future. Just don’t give anyone your private details on Rapid. Or any social network, for that matter.
When you delete the message thread with over 5 messages, it isn’t actually gone. It’s marked as ‘deleted’ and you’ll never see it again.
Why do we do this? So if you want to get your message(s) back you can email us and we’ll restore the conversation for you. Simple as.
We don’t sell your messages or data. It’d be just be weird to do that. And wrong. But mostly weird.
Google Analytics is also deployed on Rapid, but we mostly use that to see how many people are using our site at one time.
We hope we’ve cleared some stuff up for you.
Thanks for using Rapid!
-William, developer at Rapid.
