Rare Giants are proud to present a special screening of Lino Brocka’s 1975 world cinema milestone, Manila in the Claws of Light, in association with SHU Fest.

Described by Martin Scorsese as ‘a brave and truly extraordinary picture’ and restored by his World Cinema Project in 2013, this beautiful and haunting film follows a young fisherman who comes to Manila’s urban jungle in search of his lost love.

Mixing visceral, documentary-like realism with the narrative focus of Hollywood noir and melodrama, Manila in the Claws of Light is a howl of anguish from one of the most celebrated figures in Philippine cinema.

Entry to the film is free. No tickets will be required but in the event of reaching capacity, entry will be on a first come, first served basis.
