Pitch Report (Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo)

  • Colombo offers a typical Sri Lankan wicket: fine enough for batters earlier on and as the play progresses, it becomes heaven for spinners. Expect the spin bowlers to again dominate the match, however, do not rule out the batters entirely, especially those who are good against spin.

Dependable Five for D3

  • Note: For this match, you will need to create a team of five players on D3!

Dhanajaya de Silva (Sri Lanka) [Captain]: De Silva scored a fabulous hundred (122) in the first innings and 82 in the second innings in the last match. He looked in top form. Since he is quite good against spin and is capable of blowing some off-spin as well, he is easily a top pick for this match. Can be ideal as captain as well.

Angelo Mathews (Sri Lanka): Mathews brings experience to the table. He also struck a handy fifty in the first innings of the last game. He is capable of bowling some good medium pace as well. Mathews can fetch points in both departments.

Babar Azam (Pakistan): Although the Pakistan captain couldn’t do much in the last match, he is a world-class batter and would look to make a strong comeback in this match. He also plays spin very well and if he got going, could score big runs.

Shoaib Akhtar (OG — Bowler 1) (Pakistan): Shaheen Afridi opens the bowling attack for Pakistan and is a tremendous new-ball bowler. He picked up five wickets in the first Test (3 in the first inning and 2 in the second). He can again come good in this match.

Ramesh Mendis (Sri Lanka): The off-spinner claimed a five-wicket haul in the first innings of the first Test. He hits the right areas and with enough support in the wicket at Colombo, he could again be amongst the wickets in this match.
