Pitch Report (Providence Stadium, Guyana)

  • The surface at Providence Stadium is slow in nature and batters find it hard to get going. The ball grips a lot, making it tough for batters to play their shots freely. However, if a batter gets set, he can take the bowlers on too. Spinners are expected to fetch a lot of help, and so are the bowlers who bowl into-the-surface cutters. It could well be another low-scoring match.

Dependable Trio for D3

  • Rovman Powell (West Indies): Windies skipper Rovman Powell looked the most fluent batter in both teams during the first T20I. The powerful striker struck a 32-ball 48-run knock on a pitch where run-scoring was very tough. He would want to replicate the same in the second T20I as well and would be a top pick for this match.
  • Anil Kumble (OG — Bowler 4) (India): Either Yuzendra or Kuldeep would probably be the bowler 4 for India and both can exploit the conditions at Guyana to their use. The pitch would favour spinners and both Indian spinners are capable of taking wickets. In the last match, Yuzvendra was the bowler 4 and he picked up two wickets.
  • Jason Holder (West Indies) (Captain): Holder won the player of the match award in the first T20I, thanks to his extraordinary spell: 4–1–19–2. The all-rounder bowled right lengths and varied his pace smartly, leaving Indian batters clueless. He could once again be in the limelight since a similar pitch is expected for the 2nd T20I. He can come in handy with the bat as well, so he will be our captain pick for this match.
