We stayed at Huvafen Fushi (the “dream island” in the native language), a beautiful resort located 20 minutes by speedboat from the capital Malé.

Disembarking from our Singapore Airlines flight

Welcome to the beautiful Maldives! Stepping off the plane you feel the beautiful heat and can’t help but feel excited.

Ibrahim Nasir International Airport

After clearing customs, and getting an awesome Maldives visa stamp, we were met by friendly staff from our resort. We walked a few feet and were escorted to the resort’s speedboat.

Fresh cold coconut water, extremely refreshing

This beautiful yacht was anchored right outside our resort.

The spa

We were given a tour of the resort by our butler Laamey, and taken to our room. Marhabaa (welcome in Dhivehi)!

Our bathroom

Our room had a private pool and a ladder that went straight to the beautiful water.

Our excitement made us hungry, so we took a quick dip and decided to have some pizza and cocktails.

After lunch we went to FLOAT to get our snorkeling gear!

The infinity pool left us in awe.

The hotel spa with the yacht lurking in the background.

The next day we walked over to breakfast, we took a shortcut on the sandbar!

Buffet breakfast every day in the Celsius restaurant, shaped like an upside down dhoni (traditional Maldivian fishing boat).
Relaxation pad

We typically would head back to the room after breakfast to digest and hang out in our pool or the ocean.

Another beautiful sunset!

That night we had a private Indian tandoori dinner. From Indian beverages to freshly baked naan bread, it was a wonderful and delicious experience.

We were already full and there were still a few delicious courses left. The chef advised us that we take a break and walk around for a bit. We gladly obliged!

We were back at the table, chef was preparing fresh naan bread for us!

Delicious! We even had enough to take home leftovers. Before bed I set up my camera to take a time-lapse of the night sky. Here is the initial test photo.

We joined the buffet dinner on the beach — Great live music!

More time-lapse!

Bat friends!

At night we discovered where the crabs were hiding. We would turn on a flashlight and watch them scuttle away.

Everyday at 6:30p there was a stingray feeding with the island’s marine biologist.

Our buggy arrived moments before the only storm we encountered arrived (it was done in 15 minutes).

Beautiful sunset following the rain.

Back to eating outside!

Honeymoon dinner by the pool

On our last night we went to the underwater spa to see coral, sharks, and fish using U.V. light. Before we submerged beneath the sea, we were given a very cute presentation on marine biology.

Romantic last night… ❤

Last breakfast, don’t worry — one plate of many.

Saying goodbye to all our friends, especially mr. hermit crab.

Bye!

Lunch at Raw, a very tasty raw-food only restaurant.

Before leaving for the airport, we smoked the coolest hookah in existence, nicknamed by staff as “Medusa.”

Til next time!

Goodbye Maldives!

Back to reality! :(
