There were a great number of wonderful apps set off by the World Bank’s Apps for Development contest — you should check out all the winners. Here’s one that took our breath away: Economic Data Finder:

Currently just a Chrome browser extension, the concept behind the Data Finder is intuitive: it gives you the statistics related to what you’re reading, right now. When you’re reading an article anywhere on the web, this app scans the page to determine what economic indicators are relevant to the content in front of you. From there, one click takes you straight to graphs of the specific data set(s). It’s a fast and helpful reference tool, and we hope Dogan gets enough support to add more filters and platforms.
