Sharing some takeaways from conversations that I’ve shared with my dear friend Bhaskar, the former Managing Director of Titan Company Limited and Chairman of Tata Vistara Airlines.

  • No matter how many times we are exposed to complexity and sophisticated things, the human impulse always remains at a very basic level.
  • Simplicity is like truth. It is intuitive. It is core. Even the purpose of deep research is to arrive at simple realisations, that can concise and summarise.
  • Every management theory revolves around simplification. Similarly, for tech, simplicity is core. The experience for the end user has to be simple and the incentive to use the tech has to be simple.
  • Everyone admires successful individuals and the great names as they inspire. It automatically re-enforces them to replicate that success in some shape or form.
  • Every young cricketer wants to hit and drive like Sachin, Dravid or Kohli. But, very few even understand the effort required to get there and have the desire and dedication to invest that effort.
  • Media only captures the outcome of success. And it inspires, for a micro-second.
  • But, true inspiration comes from insight. Insight comes from how deep one has gone into a subject, to reach the root. Once that switch happens, success is sustainable.
