A legacy is not something you leave for people, but it is something you leave in people. This is exactly what Broadcast Education Association’s senior officers achieved throughout their educational journey at Southeastern Louisiana University.

On May 2, BEA members celebrated their upperclassmen Tyler Rogers, Hope Ramirez and Tyler Guidroz, along with a few other seniors who unfortunately could not make it. It was their last BEA meeting of the semester with graduation approaching at the end of May.

BEA President Tyler Thomas expressed, “BEA is fortunate to have had amazing seniors and leaders that paved the way for upcoming members.”

Not only have these students been very active members of BEA, but they have also helped with the founding of many projects throughout the years.

They have helped established precedents and are trailblazers whose impact will be realized for many years to come. Some important projects initiated include podcasts, news, and YouTube segments, fundraisers, annual trips, conferences and various other activities.

Throughout their involvement in BEA, these seniors have held numerous positions and have participated in a host of different events. They have traveled to many places and have represented their club and school with pride.

Through Guidroz’ dedication during his time in BEA, he has served as president of BEA, podcast producer and social media coordinator. He is known for his commitment and leadership to BEA and extensive knowledge of the film industry. Many members also find him easy to talk to and a perfectionist by nature.

He stated, “I hope we left a good foundation for all of the new members and leaders, and that they take the assets that we have created and propel them into something greater in the years to come.”

Guidroz is confident that the members of BEA will build upon the groundwork that has already been established by former members. He is excited to see what the new leaders of BEA will do next year.

Rogers, also a former president of BEA and head of BEA’s creative YouTube team, continued, “I just hope that we made the structure of BEA a lot stronger. By the look of it, BEA is headed in the right direction, especially with the leaders they have in position now.”

Roger’s is recognized as a very creative and talented leader. He strives for excellence and inspires others to do the same. He is an innovator and constantly strives to set the bar high.

He is optimistic about the future of BEA and encourages new members to take advantage of every opportunity they have.

As score newsletter editor and chairman of field trips and conferences, Ramirez has been a guiding light for numerous BEA members. She is known for putting others before herself, taking charge when necessary, being extremely organized and exemplifies what it means to be a true leader.

She commented, “I would love to come back and share what I have learned out in the field with people who are in school and those who want to learn more. I am proud to be a part of this club and to have had the opportunity to work with these two.”

Each of these seniors expressed the magnitude of BEA’s contributions in their lives and future endeavors. Therefore, they hope to have left an unforgettable impact on this club and are proud of the progress BEA has made thus far.

As one door closes, another one opens for these graduating seniors as they pursue careers in commercial production, freelance, film directing and film producing.

Although bittersweet, the BEA members honored their commitment to the club and their school, sending the seniors off with love and support for their future success.

Even though they will be stepping into their futures and moving onto bigger things, they all expect to come back and continue building their legacies for the generations to come.

Guidroz said, “This club has made who I am today and has taught me so much. I will never forget what BEA has done for me and I do plan on returning.”

As alumni, they expressed that they will never forget the factor that the organization has played for them and plan to come back soon.
