Quentin Tardivon joins Rayon, as Senior Software Engineer

We are very happy to announce that Quentin Tardivon is today joining Rayon. Quentin previously worked at SimpliField and lives in Lille. We sat down with him, to get his take on joining the company…
Of all places, why join Rayon?
Q.T.: I joined Rayon because I wanted to work on an ambitious project that blends great user experience, performance challenges and state-of-the-art technologies. I feel like Rayon is the perfect place for this, as well as a great place to learn by solving fascinating problems! I only took a peak behind the curtain, and the product is already looking awesome.
You are joining Rayon as a Senior Software Engineer. What specifically interests you in software development?
Q.T.: For me, software is most of all a mean to an end: improving people's workflow and daily tasks. I really like working on software that just gets out of the way and lets you do what you have to do. For that, you need to understand your user's needs and then find a way to find a solution that is efficient for them. I really like the social aspect of developing software. You have to talk to your team-mates and collaborate, but you also have to talk to your users.
Besides work, what do you usually do in your free time?
Q.T.: I’m really into music. I play a lot of electric guitars and a bit of modular synth. I’m really a geek when it comes to music gear, amps and the likes. I also like video games and I would like to take more time to make tiny games.
What’s the best thing you’ve ever built?
Q.T.: I didn’t build a lot of things from scratch, but I worked as an intern on a research project called MUTE (Multi-User Text Editor) which was using WebRTC and clever CRDT at the LORIA/INRIA. The goal was to make a Google Docs alternative usable by 50 to 100 people at the same time, and it had great UX challenges to make everything clear!
