The bully issues in the Korean sports environment

Recently, there are rising the issues related bully in the Korean sports field. There are many bully cases during the elementary school, middle school, high school and even professional team by coaches and players.

February 2021, two star players of Koran Women Professional Volleyball League revealed their bullies to friends who are trained volleyball with them during the elementary school. After reveal their bully to friends, they apologized about that and then they punished temporary limit play games and Korea Volleyball team.

After this issue, other bully cases have been revealed and several professional volleyball players were plead their bully behavior.

The bully among coaches and friends has been occurring in the sports team (elementary school ~ professional team) in the Korea. Many people were tend to think that it is need bully and violence to victory at the games. I totally don’t understand about that. If when coach violence to their players, the players win the game as a result? This is totally fully foolish say.

After occur bully issues in the Korean volleyball sports team, the other bully disclose in the other sports field, baseball and soccer. And it seems will continue to reveal more and more like ‘Me-Too’ movement.

In my opinion, bully and violence in the sports field of Korea is priority problem that have to resolve. The assailant's, usually coaches, are said that it was love violence. But there are no love-violence in the world. The works that coaches have to do is teach sports skills, right mindset as a player and have a respect mindset to other people.

Since the Korean sports field history, the most important thing considered is victory. There are no consider to the 2th or 3th. Probably, some people remember about Korean silver medal winner at the Olympic was crying and did face down. The player was achieve the second stage in his sport sector in the world! But he didn’t happy because he think that he is loser, not winner.

This phenomenon comes from environment of Korean sport’s education system — only important winner.

Many Korean think that this environment have to be change, but it is very difficult to eliminate the violence among coaches and friends in the school’s sport teams. Many coaches still think that some violence is necessary to victory in the games. In my opinion, the most necessary thing is change their mindset about treat to their students. Probable it will be take a long time because it is difficult to change someone’s mindset. But it is need to our healthy society.

I hope that bully and violence in the sport fields in the Korea will be disappear, and then students who are training sports will be training their skills without fear violence and bully.
