Sentinel is a network layer built on top of Cosmos/Tendermint, which enables the creation of peer-to-peer decentralized applications and resources marketplace. Amongst other applications, Sentinel’s framework is being used for the development of robust and transparent dVPN (decentralized VPN) networks. The servers are hosted all over the world by Sentinel community members, and allow users to choose the optimal server for best connectivity.

The DApps built on-top of Sentinel provide users with the ability to pay for services with different cryptocurrencies that are supported by the Cosmos Interoperability protocol. Users of Sentinels’ dVPN services pay only for the bandwidth that they consume. Since the dVPN node hosts and application owners incur costs in terms of fiat currencies, the price for these subscriptions is primarily denominated in $USD and not the Sentinel native token.

The dVPN applications built on top of Sentinel Network, including the flagship dVPN app, will use Razor Network’s decentralized Oracle network to obtain secure and reliable cryptocurrency price feeds. This information will be used by Sentinel’s smart contracts to effectively determine the pricing for the payment of dVPN usage in terms of the supported cryptocurrencies.

Cryptocurrency prices can experience extreme volatility, which makes it essential for the price data to be continuously updated in a reliable manner in order to provide users with authentic payment rates. Razor’s decentralized oracle network offers maximum game-theoretical security and has no centralized bottleneck. Secured by a highly efficient Proof of Stake algorithm with strict penalties for misbehaviour, Razor ensures that off-chain data transmitted to blockchain applications is decentralized, robust and reliable.

The integration with Razor’s oracle solution would ensure that Sentinel dVPN users are provided with the correct estimate of how much their bandwidth usage in a session will cost in terms of their preferred cryptocurrencies.

Speaking about the partnership, Hrishikesh Huilgolkar, CEO of Razor Oracle Network, said.

“Sentinel is one of the best in the business when it comes to VPN services. By using a decentralized server architecture, not only do they avoid single point failures but also ensure that customers’ browsing data remains completely private. We are excited to be associated with Sentinel. Razor’s end-to-end decentralized oracle data streams for crypto price feeds will ensure that Sentinel keeps on providing its users with the best in class services.”

About Sentinel

Sentinel Network is a network layer that enables a true p2p DApp and resources marketplace. Sentinel enables anyone to create public and private networks that provide access to both free and incentivized, along with payment method agnostic (pre-paid/escrow/post-paid) services and distributed resources. Sentinel utilizes locking, staking and multi-sig from the Tendermint core and the Cosmos SDK, and aims to fully eliminate the disadvantages of previous generation protocols.
