In partnership with muru-D, River City Labs Accelerator is the most advanced and valuable tech start-up accelerator in Queensland, and the only one with a true global network, focused on helping start-ups achieve real traction. The program accepts applications from start-ups from around the world, meaning that we can choose the very best startups from a global pipeline.

We are currently looking to expand our brand and are creating 2 spots in our delivery team; for a temporary Marketing Intern and a temporary Business Development Intern. Both roles are available for 20 hours per week, beginning immediately with one month duration (with the probability of extension).

About the Marketing Role

Working within the delivery team and reporting to the Head of Program, this position will lead the creation and implementation of marketing strategies, campaigns and material to grow the brand of the program.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Management of social media channels (creating and publishing of relevant news, alumni updates, and content from events etc.)
  • Online newsletter content and distribution
  • Assistance with creation of program event material
  • Support and assistance with blog content creation (and publication via Medium)
  • Working alongside our Publicist to provide support and assistance on a variety of tasks

This is a part-time position for a minimum of 1 month. We are open to the discussion of hours but ideally we are looking for someone who can work in-person at our co-working space in Fortitude Valley for 20 hours per week. Please be aware that River City Labs is a community environment that has a strong event culture and you may be required to work occasionally outside of regular 9am-5pm working hours during events.

About You

Ideally you are studying Marketing and/or Communication with an interest in the startup industry. You will also have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative and not-so-corporate mindset
  • Experience with various electronic design and communication platforms (Facebook and Twitter a must, also Andzen, Canva and Medium etc. are ideal but not necessary)
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work towards deadlines

About the Business Development Role

Having access to the delivery team and working closely with the Head of Accelerator, this position will assist with the sourcing and connecting of potential startups for future cohorts and high-level corporate partners.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Researching accelerators, incubators and similar programs within the startup industry and networking at events for viable companies for future cohorts.
  • Connecting with companies of interest and qualifying status and suitability
  • Arranging and attending of meetings between Head of Accelerator and potential corporate partners.

About You

Ideally you are studying at University with an interest in the startup/entrepreneur industry, potentially even want to start your own company. You will also have:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work towards deadlines
  • You don’t take NO for an answer
