The Rotaract Club of University Alumni was chartered on the 20th of December 2014, by a group of 20 past Rotaractors from the Universities of Colombo, Peradeniya, Kelaniya and Sri Jayawardenapura and 10 new members previously uninvolved with the RI Movement. The club was established with the following goals in mind:

· To provide an opportunity for graduates of state universities with a platform to enhance their knowledge and skills for personal development.

· To gain mentoring and opportunities in professional development as they embark on the transition from undergraduates to employees.

· To address physical and social needs of their communities.

· To encourage fellowship, developing group unity and co-existence.

· To provide a continuation of their University based Rotaract life which otherwise ends with graduation.

Owing to the previous experience gained by the respective University based clubs, the club membership consists of a group of dynamic, determined and dedicated Rotaractors. Some of our significant initiatives include:

· Donation and visit to Cancer Hospital Maharagama

Essential items for the child ward of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital was provided, while the members were given the opportunity to have a sing-along session with the children.

· Donations for Flood Relief

With a collection of goods worth Rs. 200,000 by members and well-wishers, the club managed to donate the items to a camp based at Angoda during the flooding in May.

· Installation Ceremony

The installation ceremony is the official induction of the new committee for each year which comprises of the participation of numerous Rotaractors from around the country.

· Visit and Donation to Kandy Cancer Home

Donation of medicine and goods (wheelchairs and air mattresses) to the Kandy Cancer Home, while spending time with the hospice inmates celebrating Avurudu.

· World Down’s Syndrome Day Celebrations

The collective effort of young professionals representing various fields, together with their diversifying skills to tackle issues and provide optimum solutions is a rare and absolute advantage which only we, the Rotaract club of University Alumni experience in every project we do.
