EDITORS INTRODUCTION — This workshop is one of six that emerged from the 2019 Salzburg Academy on Media & Global Change. An international group of students was tasked, over the course of three weeks engaging in seminars, workshops and other learning experiences, to devise an interactive learning experience for their peers that responds to the crisis of distrust. Please read the project overview to learn more, and see the people behind this work.
Navigate Your Narrative
Wabaya is a multicultural team of innovative communicators from all over the world working together to help communities across all divides learn how to reframe stories that affect them, giving them back the power of their voices by allowing them to narrate stories in their own creative way.
Our team tackles matters affecting the world like gender, vegetarianism, race, climate change, mental health and more, that impact us all differently in our unique cultural contexts. Our objective is to generate local engagement and interaction with information to get a new narrative on current issues from individuals’ points of view, and to have these new narratives accessible in an app that will save their experiences and make them available for local community and worldwide sharing on social media.
We will achieve this through bringing people together for an interactive learning experience, The Mazeum. Here, they will go through a metaphorical maze where they will find information about a particular topic that is grappling the world, presented in different mediums and angles. They will get to internalize and process the information and then share their diverse experiences and ideas on the topic and express them through visual, audio and written art.
Are you ready to get lost in an exciting information maze!? Don’t worry, you’ll find your way out and by the time you do, you will have learnt how to tell your truth as it relates to your life. Its time to navigate your narrative. Follow the links below to enjoy the Mazeum Experience.
