Why we’re bringing Blockchain to the Middle East
Hi there!
My name is Ehsan Ibrahim and I am a blockchain believer. I grew up as the youngest of 5 siblings in the mountainous city of Urmia, Iran. Accustomed to being in a large family, I have always loved experiencing new things. Before joining Re:Coded, I have worked in a variety of sectors like IT, education and media.
At Re:Coded, I train people on blockchain technology. Through our Blockchain Developer CryptoCamp, a fully online bootcamp open across Iraq, Yemen, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey, I am training one of the first generations of the blockchain developers in these countries. My main mission is to train the general audience about the tremendous advantage of blockchain technology on our lives in the coming years, and the specialized audience to get their hands on the relevant technical knowledge and tools to become blockchain developers.
Almost like everyone else, my first exposure to blockchain was through Bitcoin.
Searching for an online job that I could do part-time as a university student back in 2012, I came across bitcoin mining, a process that one participates in the blockchain network by verifying transactions and gaining cryptocurrency as a reward. Not long after, I started an interest in blockchain initially because of its cryptographic nature. After I graduated from the ConsenSys Developer Program, I had the opportunity to become a blockchain trainer at Re:Coded.
Blockchain technology has the potential to change our lives in many different areas like asset management, healthcare, finance, trade, and even the very way we establish trust among ourselves. This whole new range of possibilities with blockchain is deeply fascinating. A blockchain-powered future could be one where the current centralized systems and services, now controlled by a central authority, is instead run on a decentralized, autonomous network controlled by the people!
We are bringing blockchain to Iraq because the transparent, immutable, and distributed nature of its stored records can introduce huge improvements in how the government can oppose corruption and enhance the digital infrastructure in the country. For the people, blockchain would mean a digital platform for trust; an opportunity to enjoy online services despite the lack of proper IT infrastructure. It would also create a means to allow for potential financial transactions with the rest of the world where the inefficiency of our current banking systems does not.
The graduates of Re:Coded Blockchain CryptoCamp will learn the architecture of blockchain, what smart contracts and DApps are and how they work, how to develop smart contracts and DApps. Finally, the best performing candidates will have the opportunity for a full scholarship to the ConsenSys Developer Program 2019, a world’s leading blockchain certification program.
