Students of the 2022 Salzburg Media Academy explored the intersection of art and media literacy via a workshop facilitated by Andrea Vilhena. Vilhena explains that art increasingly shares the journalistic agenda of “examining unseen corners of society and due to the shared use of digital media, both fields have gained common ground.”
In this context, students worked individually to reflect on various aspects of media literacy. Each student picked an artwork from anywhere around the world, to paint a picture of a chosen aspect of media literacy. This collaborative exercise resulted in a virtual gallery co-curated by the students.
