The health bill that women don’t want under Trump
Oklahoma had passed HB 1441 and HB 1549 on February 2017, which are all anti-choice bills for women.
As soon as the beginning of Donald Trump’s presidency, Oklahoma House Public Health Committee had passed two bills that neglected women’s choices and described women as “hosts” rather than equal relationships as men described as “fathers”.
Oklahoma House Bill 1441 was passed in the 1st session of the 56th Legislature (2017). HB 1441 described the women as “hosts” and men as “fathers”, such that women cannot have an abortion without the consent of the “fathers”. The bill was passed as the vote of 5 to 2, which only democrats voted against HB 1441. This bill undoubtedly placed undue burden on women, which limited women’s freedom and women’s rights and powers to their own bodies, such that everyone should have absolutely control of their own body. As described in the Oklahoma HB 1441, women and men are not in the same level of world, as the marks of the “hosts” and “fathers” could be transferred to “instruments” and “masters”. Women have to get consent from a man to do something about their own wills. I would wondered that is the man the father of the fetus, or is the man the father of the woman? A little girl would have to get consent from her father to do something she liked because her father has a right to educate her in the time of growing up to become an adult. But for a matured adult female, what is the reason for her to get consent from another male? Is that women are considered lower than man so that women have to listen to men?
Women as “hosts”
Oklahoma House Bill 1441 described women as “hosts” of the fetus. The word “host” in biology meaning is “an animal or plant on or in which a parasite or commensal organism lives”. So just by reading the HB 1441 Bill, I noticed that women are just hosts of the fetus, and men as “fathers” as using women’s body as instruments or tools for them to get posterities, and it is obviously wrong. The bill placed women to become a lower species than men do, and men is like the master of the women who could say that, “You can do this because I like it”, or “You should not do this just because I don’t like it”.
Oklahoma House Bill 1549 was proposed on February 6, 2017. It was passed with Oklahoma HB 1441, and just like Oklahoma HB 1441, it is also an anti-choice bill for women (not for men). As described in HB 1549, abortion could only be down if the fetus has or a potential to have Down syndrome or a viable genetic abnormality. It also prohibited physicians to do the abortion with no diagnose of the fetus, and violations would get their medical license revoked. This bill not only told what women should to do, it also limited the opportunities for women to go for their wills.
Equal Rights
Everyone should be equal and share the equal rights, and this had been a revolution for many centuries ago and still exist today. Limitation for women to control women in some ways was always a problem for the politics, and for now, there are as much as 46 anti-abortion bills are introduced in the 14 states of the United States, such as “personhood” bills in Missouri, Texas, and Florida that aim to grant fetuses a right to life from the moment of conception. I could find anti-abortion everywhere by just typing a word on the internet, but I could not see any efforts in those bills that are truly helping women. Moreover, there may be a tiny amount of bill on limitations for men that we don’t know in public, but there is no actual bill for men to get consent from women or anything prohibited them to control their bodies. Women are kept losing their powers as men are gaining more and more power over women. Just say the two bills passed above in Oklahoma, Oklahoma HB 1549 that proposes that only if the fetus has Down syndrome or abnormality could give the women right to do the abortion, which takes away the choice from women that they should have. Oklahoma HB 1441 takes away women’s choices for abortion and gives the choices to men, which gives men the power to choose the fate of the women. Everyone should have the power to choose what they want by not giving their bodies to others’ hands, and let them to choose it for you. The HB 1441 let men be granted, they can however now, control a part of the body of women. Wombs as what defined women to be women are now controlled by men and this is because the bill passed by the politics, and which is made by a majority of men. They did do a good job for benefiting the people, but I would say mostly benefiting men as benefiting themselves.
