With great experience comes great opportunity. Meet Alyse—our service minded Accounts VP who loves getting involved with the Orlando community.

Can you tell us a bit about your background?

I’m part of a big cajun family from the swamps of Louisiana—I enjoyed cheerleading, yearbook, drama, and other engaging activities while I was growing up. I always had a passion for design and dreamed of being a designer—but ultimately I always felt “in my zone” when I was able to help people and find solutions for others.

Although I always dreamt of designing, I eventually realized that my gift was in understanding design, and how to translate that into helping to find the perfect creative solution for clients.

I got my Bachelor in communications at Spring Hill College, a small Liberal Arts college in Mobile, Alabama, and my MBA in Lynchburg, Virginia. I have 10 years of agency experience at companies like Saatchi & Saatchi and Red Square with clients like Iams, Eukanuba, and Hilton.

What made you want to start an agency?

Since I first discovered what an ad agency was, I always dreamed of starting one. I sought out to work under great minds to absorb all the best practices and meet as many people as I could. I wanted to turn around better work for clients, and develop great brands, all while providing an excellent client experience.

Do you have a professional philosophy in regards to managing accounts?

Oh gosh, yes. Someone once told me, treat everyone like they are the most important person in the world. For that moment they should be treated, given the focus, and respect that they are the most important person.

I feel like everybody that I meet is a treasure to uncover—a friend that’s been waiting to get introduced.

Every person I meet, they deserve my full attention. That allows me to learn as much as possible about them and then I’m able to meet their needs. If you’d like to join us at Big Vision, email me (alyse@big.vision) so we can get to know each other!

What’s your favorite quote or book?

My quote would be, “be a leader in service to others,” pretty much servant leadership. Don’t lead for the sake of leadership—lead to improve others, businesses around you, and our community as a whole.

Outside of work what are your hobbies or interests?

I love all things Christ, salsa dancing, roller coasters, ice cream, and road biking. I also love researching new ideas—I do that nights, weekends, all the time. Researching new ideas and learning how to keep improving is what keeps me moving forward in the things I’m involved in and passionate about.

What music inspires you to work?

I actually work best in total silence or collaborating with someone—no music required. I’m such a social person that I have to eliminate any distractions other than what I’m focusing on. I give my total attention to everything and everyone, so when I work on a task I have to focus on just that.

Do you have a Netflix guilty pleasure?

Oh, a lot of them. The Paradise—I watch over and over and over again, it’s constantly on loop. It’s about a woman in a man’s world, in the turn of the century who sees that this man is building an empire and wants to be him—to create a business experience. As a woman she’s held back from these opportunities regardless of her great ideas and potential to build the business.

Also, Joe and I never miss an episode of AMC’s The Pitch and The Prophet. They’re not guilty pleasures but they’re how we study up I guess. Good from an entrepreneurial stand point.

You’re very involved in the Orlando community, what is closest to you?

I love Junior Achievement because it teaches our next generation about entrepreneurship and financial literacy. I get the opportunity to teach in the high school classroom and mentor bright students. I also love the Junior League of Greater Orlando because it gives me the opportunity to mentor young females in the juvenile detention center.

I’m very involved in Athena International, it gives me an opportunity to learn and grow alongside other professional women in the community who have a similar heart for community, growth, personal, and professional development that will make each of us and this program better.

City Year Orlando is a non-profit that I serve on to help inner-city kids at risk of dropping out of high school to successfully graduate and continue on to a brighter future. Each of these programs are incredibly close to my heart.

Where do you pull inspiration from?

The Bible, Ogilvy, and CS Lewis. Those are all completely different realms, but are all incredible sources of inspiration for me both intellectually and spiritually. I’m also a pinning fiend, I currently have 19,896 pins saved to Pinterest.

What do you typically pin?

Mostly business ideas. Everything from business to food, exercise, design inspiration, everything! I like Pinterest because I can aggregate and categorize all of these great ideas that I find. I can refer back to each thing and put it into practice—it’s a great tool for mood-boarding and envisioning what I ultimately want to create.
