Everyone loves to hate on Crocs. Touted as the epitome of function over form, this practical shoe has been the butt of many jokes, particularly in the wake of show reboot “Queer Eye”.

Despite criticism and rumors last year of shutting down, Crocs are here to stay, and this is why:

1. Universal Comfort

No one will disagree that Crocs are designed to be maximally comfortable. Not only do they boast a wide toe and comfy heal, Crocs are also certified by the U.S. Ergonomics Council and the American Podiatric Medical Association.

2. Durability

Made out of a foam resin called croslite, this ethylene-vinyl acetate material is waterproof, easy to clean, and can be used in a variety of activities. Crocs are the perfect lightweight shoe to bring on a backpacking trip, for example, to give your feet protection and reprieve after a long hike.

3. Medical Benefits

If the factors above weren’t enough, the CrocsRx™ Custom Cloud have also been accepted in the diabetic shoe program by the Center of Medicare and Medicaid. They are the first molded shoe to be approved, and have been shown to be more effective than other leading brands in diabetic foot relief.

4. Versatility

People of all ages, careers, and medical backgrounds use Crocs. If your feet are swollen in your ninth month of pregnancy, or you are a lifeguard in need of a sturdy sandal, or a chef that stands all day on a hard floor, these shoes fit those needs. You would be hard-pressed to find a more universal footwear.

5. Cost Effective

And finally, Crocs products come out to a very affordable $25-$65, depending on the product, and can last years.

So while Crocs may not be on the next runway, neither will anyone be wearing these anytime soon:
