In our Brand Design class, my teammates, Caro Beresford-Wood and Yangmin Zhang and I created the brand for a soap company called AQUA.

The idea for our brand sprang from the prompt to create a brand around a product that engaging the olfactory sense. We were immediately excited by the idea of trying to create a brand the seeks to imitate the smell watery adventures: paddling on a lake, surfing in the ocean, splashing in river.

About our company:

We hope to create a brand that evokes the calming, refreshing experience of being in the natural world, and brings the memory of these outdoor adventures to your shower.

Logo

Our logo, by Caro, grew out of the idea of turning the Q in AQUA into a droplet of water. We experimented with many different ways of drawing the tail of the Q in illustrator, and ultimately landed on this version, which looks like a rolling wave.

Labels

I drew the labels using our main brand color and two additional sub colors. The labels are all drawn in the same style, using simplistic yet evocative forms. The backs of the labels include a brief brand statement, the list of ingredients, our website, and our location.

Physical Mock Up

I printed and cut out my label die-cut, and wrapped it around a real bar of soap to create this physical mock up.
