Part 3 (The Grand Finale) : Bringing Your Design To Life!

My Abstract Design :)

Hurray! You’ve made it!

Now for the last part of this How-To design, a logo series is tracing. Tracing can be fun, but overwhelming at times. These days, many artists, illustrators, and graphic designers have started to turn towards using the digital stylus and tablets to complete their art projects as they offer an artist a light, handy, responsive, and electronic option to get things done. But, not all of us own these tools. Thus, we have to work with what we have and do it the old fashioned way to create authentic and raw art. Let’s Start!

  • First open up the image you have previously scanned in to illustrator. and create a new layer, then set it on “Template” and give it a name.
  • Second, trace your design using the pen tool, then switch to the curvature tool whenever you need to create curves.
  • Third, When you’re done tracing don’t forget to group your designs, so you can have full control over all of the elements in case you need to resize the whole design later. To group press Command+Shift and click on the different elements of the design, then go up to Object and then click on Group (or ungroup if you want to change something)
  • Finally, name it, create a background (optional but recommended to jazz up your design) and pull your scanned drawing to the side to see the before and after difference. Viola!
Create a background to jazz up your design
The shocking difference
