Dear City of Boulder,

I am writing to apologize for my delinquency in moving my car last Thursday; my actions resulted in two parking tickets in one day! I take full responsibility and I hope to avoid this situation in the future. As I’ve been reflecting on our relationship — I think we both have some room for improvement — there are a couple things I’d like to share.

First of all, somebody wants to give you money…. and it’s me! I understand that I’m being punished, but I need some clarification. Is the $30 fine the punishment, or is it the process of paying the fine that should really hurt? Maybe I’m overreacting, let’s review the process together:

Step 1: Visit: www.bouldercolorado.gov/municipal-court

Step 2: Click on ‘parking’:

Step 3: Click on ‘Pay a Parking Ticket Online’:

Step 4: Enter in citation number and license plate:

Step 5: View parking ticket. Click add to basket?

Step 6: click ‘next’ under guest checkout:

Step 7: Click ‘pay now’:

Step 8. Enter credit card information:

Step 9: Review information, click submit:

Step 10: PULL OUT THE CHAMPAGNE!

Are you still here? If so, I think you’ll agree that champagne should be opened anytime after step 8 to ease the user through this seemingly endless process. We might lose step 1 and step 2 altogether if the link on the physical ticket went straight to the parking payments page. Ok. That seems like enough venting from my end. If you’d like to talk in more detail about how we might streamline the rest of this journey, you did require me to give you my phone number. Please feel free to give me a call.

Best,
Rebekah Sosa
