Spring semester is coming to a close, and it feels like it both lasted for ever and sped by at an alarming pace.

first week of spring semester

It seems like ages ago that we were in the studio together all week, heading to the Pearl Street Pub after class, and off skiing on the weekends. Pre-pandemic we were absorbed with redesigning On The Snow, marketing the Sin Eaters play, competing in the New Venture Challenge, huddling together at tables working feverishly on Figma, adding sticky notes to the microwave, dressing up in 20s garb at Aitana’s house…

And then covid-19 hit and all that came to an abrupt end.

Classes turned into zoom sessions in sweatpants in my room, socializing became jackbox.tv games at night in our separate houses, and going outside became a game of dodging other people. Despite the sadness of losing access to the studio, CU facilities, and most Boulder businesses, for the most part this time at home has been ok. For me it has been a time of increased self -reflection, cooking experiments, excessive phone calls, runs along Boulder Creek, and writing about each day in what I’ve started calling my apocalypse journal. It began as a ritual design assignment for Lisa’s class on the day that CU announced classes moving online, and I wanted to continue so that my future self can remember what was going through my head during this weird. time.

Here are some photo memories of spring semester…
