Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner
The odds were stacked against us as the window came to a close. Was our idea going to survive, or was it going to get shelved for another day? I was going back and forth with our prospects. One moment, I was sure our idea would come out on top, and the next positive it wouldn’t. Then there were times when I wanted our idea to lose, because I was worried that it would get watered down with too many cooks. There were others when I was grateful for the additional eyes pointing out areas and opportunities I had neglected.
Ultimately, the selection process brought about a lot of angst and second guessing for me. I don’t know if it’s because it was my idea, and ideas can be so raw and vulnerable, or just because I invested so much time into the product and I didn’t want it to be in vain.
But here we are. The smart shower head has been chosen as the product we will continue with for the remainder of the semester. I’m grateful that I no longer have to be the only one developing the physical product, but I also worry about the overall direction that the project will go in.
One thing is for certain, Droplet (Dr. Oplet), will need a new name.
