It’s amazing how we’ve come so far. The community we all started — “by developers for developers” has been a joy not only to us but to all who became part of it, especially you Reactors. We are so proud and thankful to you all as you showed love and made a huge effort in supporting us in all the activities we did throughout this year. We want to take this opportunity to really thank you. Rest assured, we’ll continue doing what we’ve been doing and will improve for the better the next year 2020.

So just to recap, here are the things we did this year. Yay! 😊

React Cebu — Meet & Greet — May 21

Our journey started this month of May. We’re blessed with more than 50 participants on this very first meetup at The Company Cebu sponsored by DTI’s Startup Island’s Mixer program. We’d like to give a huge thanks to our speakers Sean Urgel and Philippe Bodart for sharing their knowledge about React and its opportunities in the real world.

React Series: Zero to Hero (1 to 5 and Hackathon)— June to August

React Series: Hero to Zero is a 4 hours intensive discussion and coding session design for beginners to learn how to create small and medium ReactJS applications.

Huge thanks to our partner LegalMatch Philippines in bringing this workshop to eager participants who want to learn React. They are using React Native in their company.

React Series: Zero to Hero — 1 — June 8

The very first session covered the fundamentals of React listed below:

- Functional and Class Component
- JSX
- State & Props
- Conditional Rendering
- List & Conditionals
- Lifecycle Methods
- Immutability
- Routing
- HTTP

React Series: Zero to Hero — 2 — July 6

For our 2nd session, we did a recap and continued with the fundamentals we didn’t manage to finish the last session.

We also covered the following topics in this session:

- Event Handling
- Forms
- Routing

React Series: Zero to Hero — 3 — July 13

For our 3rd session — we continued to where we left off with the 2nd session and discussed in detail React routing using React Router DOM.

React Series: Zero to Hero — 4 — July 27

For our 4th session, we tackled one topic which is React Hooks — a very important addition to the latest React 16.8. It basically lets you use state and other React features without writing a class. If you already know basic React and want to improve your coding, you should have definitely joined this session.

React Series: Zero to Hero — 5 — August 3

For our 5th and last session, we applied everything we learned so far and built a real-world application and deploy it LIVE.

React Series: Zero to Hero — Hackathon — August 10

Last but not least, this series wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t end it with a bang! We did hackathon and had so much fun. We’ve invited technical judges for this day to come and join us this day.

Gatsby Workshop — Oct 12

How do you create blazing fast websites and apps? In this workshop, we created a website using Gatsby. Thank you for our very generous sponsors who made this event happen — Startechup, Arcanys, UP Cebu inIT, Gatsby.

React Cebu goes to Iloilo — Nov 9

We went to Iloilo to conduct a React workshop. Special mention to Lax here from Eternus Global for having us. We were jampacked with more than 50 participants. We couldn’t be any happier with the warm welcome and experience we had here.

React Cebu Beplop Night (literal beef loaf party) — Nov 22

Our year-ender where we all gathered to eat beplop (beef loaf). Special mention to Ryan here for the idea and to all who were all so cool to gather with us and share a beplop and a few drinks afterwards.

Here you go all Reactors. 2019 had been a fruitful year. More to come next year 2020. :)
