New season, new happenings. We got ready for the fall with several new product releases, a night at HQ with the JavaScript community, and our very first event sponsorship. Here’s what we were up to during the last days of summer:

v0.16.1: Email Made Easy

Start sending emails in just seconds. Our email system is now powered by Nodemailer, the top Node.js email module in the open source community. We now support automatic email setup for every single mail server provider, including Mailgun, Sendgrid, and nearly 40 others.

For a full list of updates from v0.16.1, check out our release notes. Big thanks to @priezz and @spencern for their contributions.

v0.16.0: Search Smarter

Find what you’re looking for in a jiffy. Our new smart search tool is powered by a more intelligent matching algorithm for finding products at lightning speed. It’s fully customizable, so you can adjust the type of products that show up first, and fully API-extendable as well. Neat!

For a full list of feature changes, check out our v0.16.0 release notes. Kudos to @callmephilip and @priezz for helping out with cleanups.

A Recap of our Meteor Meetup

This summer, we opened our doors to the local JavaScript community for a night of food, fun, and drinks. Nearly 50 attendees stopped by HQ, where the Reaction team gave presentations and invited members of the community to showcase their cool Meteor-based projects. Check out our recap of the event.

We Sponsored our 1st Conference

We sponsored the first annual Likeminds, a community-minded art and tech conference in Beacon, NY. At the event, our very own Sara Hicks spoke about the spirit of open source, collaboration, and community. Learn more about why we sponsored the one-of-a-kind unconference.

The Official Community Guidelines

Last month, we released the Beta version of our Community Guidelines. We’ve taken your suggestions into consideration, and have now finalized our docs. View our official Community Guidelines here. Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

What Lies Ahead

For the remainder of the year, we’re looking to launch even more new product features. They include:

  • Promo codes
  • Transactional emails
  • Improved publishing workflow
  • Robust shipping features

… And so much more!

Don’t miss the next Meetup! This fall, we’ll be throwing another get-together at HQ. Reaction Action is our flagship event, featuring technical talks about the Reaction Commerce platform, the JavaScript ecosystem, and the world of commerce apps and services. Join the Reaction Commerce Meetup Group for more info.
