Is Your Group Work Populist?

While it would be misguided to assume that any of the group work or teams at the Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change are themselves populist, analyzing the dynamics of group work can be a humorous and light-hearted way to think about common themes of populist leaders and regimes.

How would you know if your group work was modeling populist rhetoric? The following questions, while laughable, demonstrate populist rhetoric in a context very familiar to many Salzburg Academy fellows:

If any of the above apply to group work you have done, there are tangible strategies for ensuring that group participation and collaboration are participatory and inclusive in nature. Participatory processes can be extremely useful for helping groups to work together and can be a solution for some of the challenges inherent in groups with diverse perspectives, personalities, and opinions.
