When I die, I want to become a tree
“Father, when I die, I want to become a tree” he said to his father who was lying next to him. Both the father and the son lied under the big banyan tree that stood near to their hut. His favorite was the moonlight glittering on the leaves on a full moon. But that day there was no moon, no glittering leaves.
“Tell me son, why do you want to be a tree?” the father asks.
“ I dont know. I think there is something in my mind that says I will become a tree and feed, give shade and become home to thousands of birds” he replied.
Father started to laugh. “You and your crazy ideas”
But little did he know that 20 years in future, he would actually become a tree. It was only yesterday when he walked away from his father’s little hut. The only memory he had of his father was a handful of seeds he gave him just before his last breath. He walked away with it and never looked back. He felt numb remembering that he lost the last family he had. Maybe that’s why he didnt feel that bullet entering his brain. He didn’t see a bright light. He didnt see his past flashing infront of his eyes.
They burried him in the same room where he died, along with his shirts full of seeds. His hot blood was enough to wake up the life inside those dry seeds. A life ends and another begins. The tree started to grow. Over years it spread its branches, making shades to millions, home to thousands and till this day, known as the biggest tree in the world.
