Wait. My Starbucks Flat White Cost How Much?
The madness of coffee prices and what you can do about it
I didn’t even order a seasonal. No Pumpkin Spice or Peppermint Lattes here.
I do have a trick for Starbucks I usually go for, but after a refreshing 3-mile walk around the Reservoir in NYC, I guess I forgot to pull it out of my hat.
“$7.25”, he said in his already deadpan bored voice at 9:30 am. I did a double-take and considered my choice. It was just a Grande Flat White.
The payment screen said “Tip”, or “No Tip”, as usual. I do what I can in the city and always tip 20% for restaurants, bars, or salons, but I couldn’t bring myself to add a tip this time.
When did a basic coffee become $7?
A Starbucks Tip
You might be wondering what my trick is. What I usually do is go for their ‘Freshly Brewed’ Coffee. Let me explain why this is an awesome choice.
First, the price is much more reasonable for a tall or grande option. I pay around $4 for it. Secondly, the barista prepares it straightaway because it’s just off the tap and into a cup. You can ask for milk or have it black.
