Crime programs are becoming the most popular shows to watch, but simultaneously so are killings of people

Has anyone heard of the trend that’s been in a while now, a lot of people especially women love watching real crime shows, such as programs about stalkers, murderers, and people going missing.

But why in this age has this type of show become so popular? It seems to be that we are becoming fascinated about why these people commit crimes and why they choose who they do.

With so many shows showing multiple murderers though, is it making them famous and loved?

Popularizing murderers

  • One of the most famous ways to glorify murderers is by other people copying them, this is called copycat killers and it’s never been more popular than now, this could be because seeing all the crime on TV, people want to copy and they do.
  • Murderers could be killing people in new ways with a rare chance of being caught, such as killing a stranger only has a 5% chance of finding the killer. This could give people ideas and show it is possible to murder and escape.
  • When criminals are interviewed once released from prison, they can talk a lot about why they did what they did. And this could be very relatable, causing people to sympathize with them or understand their reasonings. Ultimately making people overlook what they did.
  • Also once released from prison, they could be asked to star in a show about criminals, untimely making them famous and earning a healthy sum of money, all coming back from the crime causing their fame.

Murder shows shed light on how evil the crime was

This is also true, as most programs focus on the victim and how much the crime has affected their lives, as not only the murdered suffer, it’s everyone around them.

  • Depicting them as bad people causes people to only dislike them and seeing the heartbroken family of the murdered only makes you feel more sorry for the impacted.
  • The programs can be helpful, as they can show killer’s motives and how to avoid some, such as meeting strangers or abusive relationships
  • Although the murderers can become famous it could also be as a deterrent for others, as seeing their lives get taken away when sent to prison allows people to see the negatives of committing a crime
  • Some crimes can be murder but can be not for the worst reasons, such as a man murdering a man who attacked his daughter, some people might relate to this as he’s protecting his daughter and it could cause him to be well-liked, although he took another’s life.

What do you think about this all? I’m unsure if murder shows are the best to show but some can really help advise you how to see abuse and how to get out.

Thank you for reading :)
