Dating as a Massage Therapist Can Get Really Messy

Quickly becoming intimate with total strangers in a dark and private room with soothing music and lotion or oil as a lubrication option to ease their tension is bound to set the groundwork for challenges while dating.

It’s something I never thought about until I became a licensed professional massage therapist. I was single and dating when I started out in the field. I worked at a busy spa that provided facials as well as a wide variety of massages.

Within a couple of months, I had a favorite client, a basketball player. He worked in the financial sector but played basketball every chance he could get. The mental and physical demands on his young body were what made him sign up for a spa membership.

He was a nice, good-looking, and funny guy who also tipped me well, always in cash. After a year of him coming to see me every two weeks, he disappeared for a few months. He didn’t talk much before, during, or after our sessions, so I knew very little about him. However, it was enough to make me miss him.
