It’s too easy and often hidden in plain sight.

Input=Output

I know it’s too simple but let me explain because we don’t understand until we fully understand.

Every system on the planet must follow this principle. If you don’t create force with a hammer, you won’t drive in the nail. Without action, there will be no result.

The same is true for innovation.

Addressing a common problem may work, but it could be solved much more effectively.

If you apply the same solution strategies, you’ll get the same result.

This may be fine, but it is not innovative and can be costly.

To be creative in business, we need to break old patterns to create new ones.

One easy way to change the results you get is to change the INPUT.

Here is one way.

I’m a fan of reading.

So I’m not limited to one genre.

Books about:

  • Sales
  • Artists
  • Creativity
  • Blockchain
  • Fiction

are all swirling around in my head.

Recently, I came up with a new approach to reducing unnecessary meetings.

“A New AI-Driven Reporting Solution (IRS) and AI-Driven Weekly Insight Aggregator (WIA).”

I wasn’t actively looking for a solution to a problem I didn’t know about.

But I made unusual connections that just seemed right.

No stress involved.

I don’t know what input created that output, but I do know that I keep exposing myself to all kinds of ideas.

Also — I know it sounds corny, but it’s true — get some real rest.Take walks and do all the things our grandparents do. We’re not going to solve our problems by chewing on them all the time.

To recap:

  1. Expose yourself to a variety of ideas and influences.
  2. Give your brain periods of active rest and watch the magic of unusual connections happen.
