Not of our wedding, but
Your departure
Which seems so long ago
Though it’s only a little over a year.

And I shall light it again
On Valentine’s, not
That we didn’t
Celebrate our love
Every moment
Of our union.

I’ve mourned
Your absence
Every second since you left,
Sometimes a sinking feeling,
Others thankful and
Healing —
The gentle rain of tears
Dilutes the pain.

Mist lifts across the valley
This morning
(This mourning)
As I stand tall
And grounded,
Then spin
In the early light
Like a pole dancer
Round the core of my being,
Remembering the
Endless moons and suns
Of laughter, joys
And sorrows,
Of saying
I love you,
Never missing a moment
Of reaffirming
Our miraculous
Alliance.
