Phew.

July feels like the month where you have to put in extra discipline and effort to be productive.

The motivation and ecstasy to get to work have left the chat.

And that made me examine what my work ethic was really built on.

I know better than to let motivation lead me.

You need systems, structure, accountability, and discipline rather than motivation to keep the ball of results rolling.

But the truth is, we all rely on motivation at some level.

Whether it’s the motivation from results, from a mindset, from a desire to see a change, or from the daily feeling of “let’s do this”.

Motivation lies at the foundation of every pursuit.

What matters, however, is knowing when to switch motivation lanes.

When the lane of the ecstasy is gone, you must switch to the result-driven motivation lane.

Or better still, the lane of personal discipline.

And if all else fails, inspire yourself.

Do the work, and the enthusiasm will follow.

That’s how I’ve been holding up.
