I came across this idea in Read or Die in a piece by Mariana Busarova. I then traced it from A man leading a simple life, back to Marcus Musik’s original 10 Questions.

It is an excellent exercise to help clarify my own ideas and to share some aspects of my life as a writer. So here is my contribution:

1) How many words do you typically write in a day?

At least 750 words. I recent found a site called “750 Words” where the challenge is to, you guessed it, write at least 750 words each day. I’ve made this part of my morning routine (the others being to read at least 10 pages of a nonfiction book; read articles, stories, and poetry on Medium; and write poetry).

2) What is your favorite time of day to write?

First thing in the morning before my wife wakes up. My second favorite is after she goes to work. I am retired, from work at least, so I try to write between my other commitments (webinars, community engagement, taking care of our place, etc.)

3) Do you plan your writing in advance, or do you write whatever comes to mind?
