Growing up, we often abandon our inner light and look to others to illuminate our lives. We become accustomed to the narrative of Deus Ex Machina, feeling powerless in situations beyond our control.

Even as artists, we frequently wait for inspiration to come from external sources. We pray to the muse as if it’s a distant force outside of us. In reality, the muse approaches those who believe in themselves enough to put in the work.

True artists are not swayed by external circumstances. They do not fear the darkness because they have realized the most important truth of all. As Rumi said:

“If everything around you seems dark, look again. You may be the light.”

We forget that we are self-luminous, a truth that was so clear to us as children. How do we forget this important truth? Why do we trust others more than ourselves, placing all our hopes and desires in them?

Dear artists, the way you trust yourself will determine your entire career and future. The best choice you can make is to be by your own side.

Find the light within you and embrace the darkness. Luck and the muse favor those who try!

If you’ve reached the end, thank you! Your support means a lot. Feel free to drop a comment and share your thoughts – let’s chit-chat about anything you wish! :)
