Magic of Christmas

The magic of Christmas begins
in a child’s twinkling eyes
when he writes a crayon letter
to old Saint Nick.

Impatiently he peeks out the window
looking for the jolly man in the red suit,
when the tiny tot sees Rudolph’s shiny nose
dart across the foggy Christmas eve sky.

As he hears the sound of hooves tap on the rooftop,
he falls fast asleep dreaming of Father Christmas
enjoying milk and cookies,
sprinkling Christmas magic beneath the tree.

He jumps out of bed at the crack of dawn
making a mad dash,
grinning from ear to ear cheerfully shouting, “It’s Christmas! It’s Christmas!”

Half asleep with eyes partially open,
their feet dangle over the edge of the bed
quickly grabbing mismatched clothes,
to follow him down the hall.
