Author’s image. Outside the school on an ordinary day during pick-up time.

My husband had gone to pick up our daughter Sivakami from school. He was a moment or three late.

Usually, outside the school, there are plenty of people picking up their kids. Like in that picture above? Like that.

There wasn’t a soul outside the school today. The gate was closed.

My husband thought that he was so late that Sivakami had been kidnapped from outside the school gate.

He ran from the car to the school gate and banged on it. The security guard waiting on the other side of the gate opened the gate and let our waiting daughter and her classmate out.

Sister doesn’t allow children to wait outside the gate. A parent would bang on the gate. A kidnapper…
