Let’s face it, there is a proper etiquette we should all keep in mind while interacting with one another on Medium. We all have expectations from our followers and ourselves as we explore this exciting Medium world.

Sometimes we slip, but for the most part, we try to be kind, respectful, open minded, and supportive, right?

Tips

Here are a few tips I have learned so far on my journey that I will gladly share with my buddies 🙂

  1. CLAP 👏 That will probably always be top on my list: If you intend to read or skim an article, why not clap 50 times? It takes merely seconds to do so. A clap or two is an insult, honestly. I just don’t see the reason for it. If you don’t like an article, just don’t clap at all and move on to the next.
  2. Happy Followers I love getting new followers. I really do. But don’t you think it’s strange to just randomly get a new follower? I want to know why you chose to follow me. What article did you see that resonated with you? Go ahead and clap or comment on one of my articles BEFORE you push that follow button. Show me why you want to be my buddy 🤗 By doing so, I will then go to your page and find one of your articles that may resonate with me.
  3. Be supportive to one another. We all have those friends we interact with almost daily!! “Oh, my buddy Brenda Arledge has a new article or new poem! Let me go check it out!” In turn, I KNOW she will be clapping and commenting on something new of mine that she resonates with, or vise versa. We do that for one another. It’s proper etiquette! It works out well! ❤️Thank you Brenda!❤️ And let me just add, right as I was typing your name, I got a notification from you checking out my personal story, ‘Being The Other Woman’, so thank you for always being so supportive. You are the epitome of what a perfect Medium friend should be.
  4. Stay on the article for 30 seconds. When you look at your stats and realize you’ve had 50 reads but 70 views, it’s a sure sign that people are not staying on the article for the short 30 seconds. It doesn’t even count toward the read. What a bummer! Don’t be one of them!

I could probably think of a few more tips, but I like to keep most of my articles between 2 and 3 minutes for pleasurable reading, minus maybe a couple that have gone past my usual standard.

My buddies, especially my new buddies, we are all here to enjoy this writing journey and support one another. Let’s do these few things to show the best support we possibly can. And in the process, we will all succeed together!!

It’s easy!

It’s kind!

It’s respectful!

I hope everyone enjoys their day! ☀️

Thanks for reading!💟

I love writing short stories, poetry, even a little dab in Erotica. I write what's in my heart, experiences, loss, lessons. Writing is a deep thinker's escape.
