Saying “Just Relax” Is Always a Bad Idea

Her eyes were blazing like a wildfire.

Her voice was the soundtrack of a demonic possession, rage edition.

Her muscles bulged and shredded her clothes like The Hulk on a bad day.

After witnessing this terrifying transformation, her husband knew exactly what to say.

“Just relax,” he said, with the casualness of a man who’d never read a survival guide.

His funeral is next Thursday.

No One Has Ever Calmed Down

Think back to any time you’ve ever told someone to “calm down” or had it said to you.

Did the person ever calm down? Slim chance.

Did it make things worse? Jackpot!

Telling someone to “calm down” or “don’t worry” when they’re clearly upset is like handing them a “Your Feelings Don’t Matter” card. It’s the perfect way to say, “Your gigantic issue is barely a blip on the radar, and you’re blowing it way out of proportion, you drama magnet.

Solutions Are Overrated

When I’m upset or stressed and venting to anyone with ears, I’m not on the hunt for solutions. If I wanted a fix, I’d ask…
