Not one word more or less

Would you like to improve your writing skills? I am always open to ideas on how to do so.

A short while ago I was watching a YouTube video. It was mentioned that to improve one’s writing skills using 50-word stories would help.

Imagine writing a story in exactly 50 words. It takes a lot of concentration to choose words and phrases to arrive at that 50-word count.

By writing in a short format and using exactly 50 words it makes a writer think very carefully. It trains one to be concise and learn how to put across information in a way readers will comprehend. It will be a piece of work that doesn’t go down unnecessary pathways.

By writing in this minimal way it will make a writer think more carefully about the words used and learn new words to replace two or three words with one. It’s a daunting task to get to exactly 50 words, but I can see getting the text to that number will make every word and sentence focus the mind. This would be especially true on the edit.

Have you written 50-word stories?

It would be great to hear from any reader who has tried this method of writing. Please let me know in the comments.

It would be great to have you as a follower and share more stories with you. Please feel free to click the button. 😀
