The Nakba day represents the catastrophe that came to the Palestinians when they were expulsed forcefully from their homes to be given to the zionists who declared their state on the rubbles of more than 530 villages in 1948.

The state that was and still cleansing any trace related to the Palestinians in their land — by expulsion, building settlements, setting discriminating laws, and disturbing the civilians’ lives daily.

But how did the Nakba happen and has it ended?

The Very Start

The story goes back to 1897 when the founder of the world zionist organization, Theodor Herzl, suggested the creation of a Jewish state where Jews can immigrate and settle.

It was not based on religious claims, in fact, Palestine at the time was but one of several ‘options’ to colonize, some of the other suggestions were Argentina, Madagascar, Uganda, and Japan.

“I shall now tell you everything about the “Promised land” except its location. — Theodor Herzl in his diaries, p133
