And before I even gave the client a chance to respond, I’d already lowered the price in my head. Before they have even asked for it, simply because I could not justify that price in my head.

The trap of pricing from your own wallet
One of the most common reasons we undercharge is because we price based on what we can afford. We look at the number and think, “If I were in their position, I wouldn’t pay that much.”
Or
“I wouldn’t spend ₹25K on a strategy call or ₹40K on content — I should be more affordable.”
But here’s the truth: you are not your client. They are hiring you because they don’t have your skill, your time, your creative eye, your thinking. You’re solving a real problem for them and that’s what they’re paying for.
