What happened to you, my dear one? You used to be so kind, caring, and loyal. I trusted you for everything. EVERYTHING. I let you live in my house, eat all my food, sleep in my frickin’ bed!

And you know — I mean, you know — I have trust issues. Big trust issues.

We have been so cozy and close to each other for seven years. Was that it? The toll of time? The seven-year itch you had to scratch?

Did you just want something new? Got tired of hanging out with me on the couch, watching Bravo TV while I laughed too hard at Andy Cohen’s snarky comments? I thought that was our thing.

Was I too predictable? Too comfortable? Did the familiarity make me boring? I mean, sure, I have my quirks. I like my shows, my popcorn and Prosecco, my routines. But I thought you liked those things about me. I thought we had an unspoken understanding — a partnership built on years of trust and shared comforts.

What about all those mornings nuzzled up on the couch, drinking Colombian coffee and doing the NY Times crossword puzzle, enjoying the quiet moment before the loud, crazy world intruded?

Or those late afternoons when I’d come home emotionally drained, the weight of the day pressing down on me. We’d head out…
