Are You Really Resting?
Here’s the Rest You Need (It’s Not Just Sleep!)
Have you ever felt like you could sleep for a week and yet wake up exhausted? You are not alone.
It turns out that rest is more than just closing your eyes and hoping for the best — it is about understanding the types of rest your body and mind require. (I only recently learned this)
In today’s always-on world, we glorify the hustle — the never-ending to-do lists, back-to-back meetings, and continual notifications.
However, neglecting rest is like driving a car without refueling — it’s only a matter of time before you stall.
- Physical Rest (More Than Just Sleep)
The most obviously visible one is sleep.
That wonderful sensation of collapsing into bed after a demanding day and allowing tiredness to vanish as you slink into dreamland. Sleep relaxes muscles, calms the mind, and replenishes energy — a reset button. For the best healing, experts advise trying for 7 to 9 hours of quality sleep every night.
But physical rest is not just about sleeping. Your body also needs active recovery such as stretching, yoga, or taking a warm bath.
