Remember when Google announced they were killing Universal Analytics and forcing all users to massively adopt Google Analytics 4? I sure do. I was scrolling LinkedIn and everybody was complaining about how it didn’t feel like Universal Analytics and how they would lose all their all old data. Everyone was freaking out about GA4, and I mean everyone.
But here’s the weird thing: While most people were complaining about having to learn a new system, I couldn’t stop thinking about how many businesses would need help with the transition. That thought kept me up that night, not from anxiety, but from excitement.
This same thing happened when Google rolled out (more like pushed) Consent Mode v2, forcing companies to comply under threat of not being able to advertise if they didn’t. And the same is somewhat happening now around AI/LLM, see a pattern?
